What Rateory is for
A reference workspace, not a transaction desk
Rateory helps you estimate currency conversions before you pay, transfer or exchange money. The figure in the converter is reference information: it is useful for comparison and planning, but it is not a promise that a bank, card issuer, broker, exchange office or remittance provider will execute at that exact rate.
Estimate
Translate an amount into another currency using the latest available reference rate.
Compare
Use the reference amount as a baseline when comparing banks, cards and transfer providers.
Understand
Review historical movement and learn how spreads, fees and timing affect the final result.
Why your provider can show a different rate
A reference rate is only one part of a real conversion. A provider can add an exchange-rate margin, a fixed fee, a card foreign-transaction fee or intermediary charges. The quote can also change between authorization and settlement.
For a fair comparison, use the same starting amount and compare the final amount delivered, not only the advertised fee or headline exchange rate.
How Rateory gets and presents data
The website requests reference-rate data from the Frankfurter v2 API. Rateory keeps the provider date visible so you can see which reference period is being used. Historical charts are also reference data and can contain gaps when the upstream source does not publish a point.

Before you complete a real conversion
- 1. Start with a reference amount.
Use Rateory to create a neutral baseline for the currency pair and amount you care about.
- 2. Get the provider quote.
Check the exact exchange rate, fixed fees, percentage fees and any card or payout charges.
- 3. Compare the delivered amount.
A provider with a smaller fee can still be more expensive if its rate contains a larger margin.
- 4. Confirm timing and restrictions.
Availability, settlement time, limits and local market conditions can matter as much as the rate itself.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Rateory rate the rate my bank will use?
Not necessarily. Rateory shows reference exchange-rate data. Banks, card issuers, cash exchanges and transfer services can apply their own margin, fees, timing rules and rounding.
Why can two providers show different exchange rates?
Providers can use different data sources, update times and spreads. The useful comparison is the final amount you receive after the exchange-rate margin and every fee are included.
Are Rateory rates trading quotes?
No. Rateory rates are informational reference data and are not executable trading, bank or money-transfer quotes.
What should I check before sending money?
Confirm the provider's final rate, fixed and percentage fees, payout method, timing, limits and any country-specific restrictions before you approve a transaction.
